Though they look almost identical, there are some key differences, mainly changin<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">g the construction of the receiver tube from milled steel to stamped steel. The magazine well was also simplified to stamped metal, as well as a few other design changes that lightened the weight of the weapon and simplified and cheapened production. This was so successful that over a million of these machine pistol were produced by various factories during the war.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-253\" src=\"https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-6-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-6-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-6.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 85vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p>The MP40 is an open-bolt, blowback operated sub machinegun (SMG) chambered in 9x19mm. It is fed from a 32 round box magazine fed into the bottom of the receiver, unlike earlier German machine pistols like the MP18 and MP28 that were fed on the left side. It is fully-automatic only, unlike the Allied counterpart, the Thompson SMG, which was select fire. However, at a rate of fire of only 550 rounds per minute, it is easy to fire off single shots or controlled bursts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-249\" src=\"https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-2.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The MP was generally issued to squad leaders, officers and senior non-commissioned officers, vehicle crews, paratroopers, etc. It was issued with a sling, two 3-cell magazine pouches, a magazine loader, and a magazine cleaning brush.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-254\" src=\"https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-7-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-7-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-7-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/211thgrenadier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/MP40-7.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>GR211&#8217;s MP40: Our MP40 is owned by Hauptfeldwebel Spengler and is a live, fully automatic transferable (legal) machine gun. It has been blank adapted using a threaded muzzle adapter that can easily be replaced without causing any permanent modifications to the gun.
