Sanitätsdienste 171 represents the medical support element attached to Grenadier-Regiment 211.
It plays an important role in both field operations and living history displays, while also serving as an entry point for younger members beginning their reenacting experience.
Who this is for
This program is designed for:
- Younger members (ages 15–17)
- Individuals interested in medical impressions
- Those looking to begin their experience with GR211
Due to event hosts and insurance requirements, younger members are not permitted to carry firearms on the battlefield.
Sanitätsdienste 171 provides a way to actively participate in events while gaining experience within the unit.
Role in the Field
Members of the medical service element portray German wartime medical personnel in both field and display environments.
This includes:
- Battlefield aid and casualty evacuation
- Supporting combat scenarios in a controlled and historically accurate manner
- Engaging with the public to demonstrate the role of military medical services
Unit Structure
1./Sanitäts-Kompanie 171
Represents frontline medical personnel supporting combat units in the field.
Members in this section may participate in battlefield scenarios where appropriate.
Feldlazarett 171
Represents rear-area medical facilities, including doctors, nurses, and support staff.
This section is ideal for static displays and public interaction, portraying the treatment and care of wounded soldiers.
Path to the Front!
Sanitätsdienste 171 is intended as a starting point for many members.
As participants gain experience and meet age requirements, they are encouraged to transition into standard infantry roles within Grenadier-Regiment 211. Many of our current riflemen began their experience in Sanitätsdienste 171.
This ensures a balanced and realistic unit structure while allowing members to grow within the organization.
A Complete Experience
Through both field participation and living history displays, Sanitätsdienste 171 provides a unique opportunity to experience the wartime environment from a different perspective, while still being fully integrated into the unit.

Sanitätsdienste 171 History
Infanterie Division 71 consisted of several subordinate units. These included, of course, the infantry regiments like GR191, GR194 and GR211 that we reenact.
The Sanitätsdienste 171 (Medical Services Battalion 171) consisted of two companies of medics, two companies of stretcherbearers/ambulances and a field hospital with a staff of surgeons and nurses.
