Step into history and become part of a dedicated WWII living history unit portraying a German infantry company of the 71st Infantry Division.
Whether you’re brand new or experienced, we welcome those with a passion for history, authenticity, and teamwork.
What You’ll Do
As a member of GR211, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Take part in large-scale public battle reenactments featuring coordinated infantry maneuvers and armored vehicles.
- Become immersed in living history displays and educational events
- Train in infantry tactics, drill, and fieldcraft
- Build lasting friendships with like-minded individuals
- Experience the sights, sounds, and teamwork of a WWII infantry unit in the field.

No Experience? No Problem.
Most of our members started with little or no reenacting experience.
We will help guide you through:
- Uniforms and gear
- Basic training and expectations
- Event preparation
- Weapons handling (if required)
All you need is an interest in history and a willingness to learn.
What Does It Cost?
Reenacting can be an expensive hobby, and there are some upfront costs.
Typical starter costs include:
- Uniform with insignia
- Basic field gear
- Event travel (depending on location)
- Weapons
We’ll help you build your impression over time so you don’t need everything at once. We do have some loaner gear for new recruits. Check out our Equipment Page for more information on gear we use at GR211.
What We Expect
We keep things simple:
- Be respectful and professional at public events
- Maintain a historically accurate impression
- Participate when you’re able, this is a hobby, not a full-time commitment.
- Want to see what it’s like in the field? Check out our “What We Do” page.
That’s it. No extreme time commitments required.
Our Approach
We portray the common German soldier in an educational, non-political context, focusing on historical accuracy and public understanding.
Our goal is to represent history responsibly while honoring the experiences of those who lived through it. We do not support or condone the actions of the Nazi party. We only wish to represent the common German conscript during WWII.
Younger Members
If you are under 18 and interested in participating, please check out our Sanitätsdienste 171 program for more information. This is a pathway for younger members to eventually become Grenadier/riflemen.
